The Development of Nursing is Affected by The Development of Nursing Globally

The development of nursing is affected by the development of nursing globally. Clearly can be observed that the continuous rapid development of nursing experience, both in education and in the order of nursing practice. In the past nursing is based more on intuition and tradition so that nursing is considered only as a troubleshooting without scientific component and a solid scholarly foundation. An important component is the development of the discipline of nursing research nursing, because nursing research is needed to solve the problem of nursing and to develop or validate the theory that is needed as a foundation in nursing practice and the development of nursing science body (Body of Knowledge).


The problem that arises is if the researcher is less precise in drafting the framework of the theory / concept in accordance with the variables to be studied, so that research results will be less significant in the development of nursing science body (Body of Knowledge) and will affect its application in nursing practice.


To avoid this, before a theory is applied to certain nursing practice and research used as a framework theory / concept of a nursing research, it is necessary to first do Theory Analysis. Basically Theory Analysis have procedures include Origins, meaning, logical adequacy, usefulness, generalizability, parsimony, and testability that aims to find out the advantages, limitations and benefits of the theory so that it can be considered for additional testing or validation.

In this paper, the group tried to present the results of analysis of Theory of Goal Attainment introduced by Imogene M. King in 1971. The theory of goal attainment is a theory that is open and dynamic, with nine key concepts which include interaction, perception, communication, transaction, role, stress, growth and development, time and space (Marriner, A. 1986).
