Psychological Science in Nursing, Health Scope

A. Definition
Psychology comes from the Greek word “psyche” which means soul and “logos” which means knowledge. So etymologically means the study of the soul. Who’s soul is the spiritual vitality that is abstract, which is the activator and regulator for all personal actions (personal behavior) of higher animals and humans. The act is to act as a result of personal learning process made possible by the state of physical, spiritual, social, and environmental. The learning process is a process to improve the personality (personality) with the road trying to get a new understanding, new values, and new skills, so that he can do more successful in dealing with the contradictions in life. So, the soul-understanding implies, cultural values, and skills. So psychology is the science which studies all behavior and actions of individuals, in which the individual can not be separated from its environment.


B. Position
A science that has stood alone, not being part of other sciences.
Regarding this development then was changed philosophical psychology that had become a character of empirical psychology.

C. Scope
In studying psychology, we will limit ourselves to human behavior, because human beings are creatures of God the highest rank among other creatures.

D. Psychological methods
1. philosophical methods include:
a. intuitive method,
b. contemplative method,
c. religious philosophical method.

2. empirical methods, including:
a. observational methods, which means: looking back.
b. method of experimental introspection is: a method that connects between the methods of introspection and experimentation, in an attempt to overcome nature and method sujektivitas introspection.
c. ekstrospeksi method is: a method in psychology that attempt to investigate or study with a deliberate and orderly.

The purpose of studying psychology:
to make human life so well, happy, and perfect
a variety of psychology:
general psychology: psychology that studies psychological symptoms of normal adult human and civilized.
Special Psychology: psychology that studies the special properties and human psychiatric symptoms.

Symptom recognition (cognition)
sensing and observation, so the results both the need for conditions to be met, namely:
a. the object being observed,
b. receptor or sensory tool That Is Good Enough
c. attention.

The response here is: as one of the principal functions of the soul, can be interpreted as a memory picture dati observations, which have been observed when the object is no longer located in time and space observation.
Reproduction and associations are: the appearance of responses from the state under conscious (unconscious) into the unconscious state.

Memory (memory) is: the power of the soul to receive, store and reproduce impressions.
Fantasy (fantasy) are: the ability of people to shape the responses or a new shadow.
Thinking (thinking) is: an international psychic activity, and occurs when someone encounter problems (problems) that must be solved.

Intelligence (intelligence) is: the power to adjust to new circumstances by using the tools to think according to its purpose.

Intuition is: inner views which are at once penetrating about one peristwa or truth, without perurutan mind, like inspiration.
 
Observations through the five senses, which include:
1. through the senses of sight
2. through the senses of hearing
3. through the olfactory senses
4. through the senses of taste
5. through the senses of touch

symptoms of feeling (emotion)
sense of feeling is: a state of spiritual or psychological event that we experience with happy or not happy in a relationship familiar events and is subjective.
